Could We Hack Time? The Crazy Possibility of Accessing Future Content
I was watching a video that talked about free will. Free will is the concept that says:
“People feel free in their choices, but their will is ultimately shaped by forces outside their control.”
Einstein’s View on Free Will
Einstein fully believed that free will is an illusion. He once said:
“I do not believe in free will. Schopenhauer’s saying, ‘Man can do what he wants, but he cannot will what he wants,’ has always deeply impressed me.”
Influenced by this, his general relativity describes a universe where time and space are part of a fixed, four-dimensional structure — past, present, and future all exist simultaneously.
Because of this, Einstein rejected the randomness of quantum mechanics, favoring a predictable universe with underlying order. His famous quote reflects this belief:
“God does not play dice with the universe.”
If Free Will Doesn’t Exist, Is Everything Predestined?
Now, let’s consider that there is no free will and believe what Einstein believed.
- If there is no free will, then everything is predestined.
- If everything is predestined, then the future is already fixed for everyone.
- Every decision we take, wherever we are, the things we are doing, and the things we will be doing are already decided.
What If We Could Access Future Content?
If everything is already decided, then the content I will be posting, and not just me, but anyone — whether personal creators or big organizations — is already predetermined.
I may sound childish, but what if we could access that content while being in the present?
Accessing the content that will be posted in the future, in the present.
The Internet & The Future
We know that data and information on the internet is saved on hardware located somewhere on Earth. This is true.
But that also means that the content that will be saved in the future will also get stored in the same place.
Now, if everything is distinct, then maybe, just maybe, we could access the content of the future.
If you ask me how, I simply don’t know — but we are just assuming, right? This is a ‘what if’ concept.
So, let’s consider:
- We may develop a glitch
- We may create viruses, AI, or software
- Some technology may emerge that can access the content that will be posted in the future
The Power of AI & Predicting the Future
There is also a concept that if we were to build an AI so powerful, and we fed it every possible piece of information about you — your habits, choices, personality, and behavior — it could calculate what you will be thinking or what your next move will be.
This is a pretty good consideration too, but we will talk about this in another post.
Final Thoughts
This is just a thought experiment, but it raises fascinating questions about determinism, technology, and the nature of time.
If the future is already set, can we ever find a way to access it? Or is the illusion of free will something we need to keep believing in?
What do you think?
